On June 24, 2026, two massive earthquakes struck northern Venezuela within seconds of each other. The quakes, measuring magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5, devastated La Guaira, Caracas, and the surrounding communities. Buildings collapsed. Roads and hillsides gave way. More than 2,000 people have died, and the toll is still climbing.
At No Child Hungry, our response begins with 200,000 meals in the coming days. More will likely be needed in the months ahead, as the recovery will be long. We'll also be sending hygiene kits and Stop Hunger Bags, as both are powerful resources in crisis.
The need in Venezuela is immense. The need will be present for many months to come, but with your help, we'll be right there. We need an army of caring people, just like you, to join this effort. No contribution is too large, and none is too small. All make a BIG difference.
There are multiple ways to get involved. First, we need your support to keep the meals moving. Donations to help with meals, supplies, and shipping are much needed. Second, we'll need to send even more meals, so you can fund as many as you'd like — and they're only 43.5¢ each for this effort, thanks to amazing supporters and suppliers! And finally, you can volunteer. Our warehouse in Apopka, Florida, is sure to be busy in the coming days and weeks, so helping hands are needed and appreciated.

Wave One: Basics
Our initial response will include providing 200,000 meals, along with hygiene kits and Stop Hunger Bags. Each addresses a critical need for kids and families displaced by the earthquakes.
Component #1:
No Child Hungry Meals
No Child Hungry meals, developed by food scientists at Iowa State University and Cargill Labs, provide a person with all the vitamins and nutrients needed for an entire day. In Venezuela, we'll be distributing Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal and Rice & Vegetable meals.
Our goal is to send more than 200,000 meals to Venezuela in the wake of the earthquakes. We'll need support to make it happen, covering both meals and shipping.
Component #2:
Hygiene Kits
Our hygiene kits are a welcome sight for displaced kids and families. Each kit contains the basics - a toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, soap, a washcloth, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, deodorant, and more. When you're making an emergency shelter, a hotel, or a myriad of other stopping points your home, these basics are much needed and always appreciated.

Stop Hunger Bags
Stop Hunger Bags are amazing in the days and weeks after a disaster hits. And they're needed everywhere in the disaster zone. Kids need snacks to get through the day. (Ever tried keeping a tween or teen full?). And for those on the go, from first responders to the people manning kitchens and handing out cots at shelters, snack packs are often the fuel that keeps them moving! Filled with ready-to-eat goodness, these packs are always a hit!
