Meritage Homes is making a meaningful difference in the world, and earlier this month, the company was honored as the recipient of the 2023 Hearthstone BUILDER Humanitarian Award. Presented by the editors of BUILDER magazine in partnership with Hearthstone, this annual award recognizes homebuilders who demonstrate a lifetime commitment to public service.
No Child Hungry has been privileged to work with the Meritage Homes team since 2022. Founder William Lowry shared, "The support from the team at Meritage Homes has been amazing. Since we partnered on our first meal-packing event last year, they've been a difference maker in the lives of countless at-risk children, and we're so thankful for their partnership, leadership and commitment to serving others."
Over nearly forty years in business, Meritage Homes executive chairman Steven Hilton and CEO Phillipe Lord have been instrumental in establishing partnerships and scores of aid efforts. However, both leaders credit a team effort with input from every team member at Meritage for the success of the company's philanthropic efforts.
"No Child Hungry was an idea from one of our employees last year, and it struck a chord with the entire organization," reports Lord. "As we understood more and more what they were about, I think it really resonates with our folks and our 'start with heart' core value. I feel like this is probably an organization that we're going to be continuing to
give to on an annual basis."
Senior vice president of No Child Hungry Mike Whitaker adds, "Partnerships with leading organizations like Meritage Homes mean so much to the accomplishment of our mission to make sure no child goes to bed hungry. It goes far beyond the generous financial support, and really make an impact when we see entire teams, like Meritage, come together, united by a desire to be the change they want to see.
